Country music veteran, Dean May, became an expert in the field of copyrights and other music matters during her tenure at Acuff-Rose Music. May was working at a printing and office supply company when she was hired by the Roses. During her 36 years with Acuff-Rose, May worked as office manager before rising to the position of Vice-President. Her knowledge of the music business, her ability to get things done, and communicating well with other people led her to become one of the most respected people in the industry. One of her fondest memories is of Hank Williams, Sr. coming into the Acuff-Rose office, sitting in a chair, playing the songs he had written. Besides working with Williams, May also worked with such country legends as Don Gibson, Roy Orbison, The Everly Brothers and John D. Loudermilk.
