SOURCE members gathered for an intimate and inspiring afternoon at BrickTop’s Restaurant on West End Avenue, celebrating two of our esteemed Hall of Fame members — Mary Del Scobey (2015 inductee) opened the Nashville office of Almo/Irving Music, one of the most successful publishers of the 80's/ 90's and Shelia Shipley Biddy, co-founder of SOURCE, CFO of Music Health Alliance, and the first female to head a Nashville record label (Decca Records).
What began as simple introductions quickly turned into a heartfelt conversation among friends. Members shared stories about their careers, the evolution of Nashville’s music industry, and the many lessons learned along the way. The atmosphere was warm, open, and filled with laughter — a reminder of the genuine community that SOURCE represents.
One highlight of the afternoon came when a generous attendee surprised the group by purchasing everyone’s lunch, a beautiful reflection of the giving spirit that continues to define women in the music industry and the SOURCE organization.
The discussion also sparked a new idea — a newsletter feature titled “Opening the Door.” This recurring section will spotlight members seeking new opportunities, helping connect women in the industry to resources and job placements through the SOURCE network. It’s another way SOURCE continues to open doors for one another, both professionally and personally.
This special luncheon was a reminder that when women in music come together, the conversation doesn’t just celebrate the past — it inspires the future.
