The SOURCE community kicked off 2025 with a warm and welcoming Town Hall Meeting, the first luncheon of the year. Held in Nashville, this gathering set the tone for a year filled with networking, industry insights, and continued support for female professionals in the music industry. The room buzzed with enthusiasm as both longtime members and newcomers shared a meal and reconnected.

A Welcome from the 2025 President

Kari Barnhart, the 2025 SOURCE President, opened the event with a heartfelt welcome, emphasizing the organization's rich history. SOURCE, founded in 1991, is the longest-running women's music industry organization in Nashville. The nonprofit (501(c)(6)) is dedicated to providing education, networking opportunities, and career growth for accomplished women in the industry. Kari thanked the 2024 board and committee for their dedication and hard work in keeping the organization's mission alive. New members were invited to stand, receiving a warm welcome from the room. Their presence signifies SOURCE’s ongoing commitment to fostering new connections while honoring the women who have paved the way.

Honoring the Founding Members and Legacy

Kari took a moment to honor SOURCE's founding members: Judy Harris, Shelia Shipley Biddy, and the late Pat Rolfe. Judy was in attendance, and members were encouraged to connect with her and learn more about the organization's origins. Kari also acknowledged the challenges the organization faced post-pandemic but expressed optimism about what 2025 holds.

Membership Dues and Financial Assistance

Members were reminded to pay their dues through the website, which now offers auto-renewal. A late fee applies for unpaid dues, but accommodations are available for those facing financial hardship. The reinstatement policy for inactive members was explained, requiring verification and payment of dues plus an admin fee. Kari stressed that non-payment of dues affects the organization’s annual budget and ability to host events, particularly with rising costs.

Member Engagement and Rejoining the Organization

Members were encouraged to invite past members to rejoin and attend the next luncheon on March 27. Feedback, ideas, and committee participation were welcomed as ways to stay involved. The 2025 executive board was introduced, including Mallory Mason as Vice President and Program Co-Chair and Kasey Cleckler as Secretary. Kari expressed her enthusiasm for the year ahead, hoping to build meaningful relationships and explore new developments in the music industry. Contact details for the Board of Directors, including Mary Lauren Teague and Beth Tyson, were shared for inquiries about membership or invoice concerns.

Luncheon RSVP and Cancellation Policy

To ensure enough food is available, members were asked to RSVP in advance. A $10 cancellation fee applies for last-minute cancellations, and members should cancel at least 24 hours prior to avoid charges.

Communications and Social Media Channels

The Communications co-chairs Stephanie Orr, Annie Reuter and Sarah Skates were introduced. Members were encouraged to use these channels to share job postings, event promotions, and important updates. Various social media platforms, GroupMe, and text alerts were highlighted as essential tools for staying connected. The SOURCE website (www.sourcenashville.org) was also showcased, featuring the Hall of Fame Awards page and a members-only area.

Social and Service Committee Events

Exciting events are planned for 2025! Social co-chairs Sarah Flick and Brittni Talley announced a trivia night, with social gatherings alternating with program events. The Service committee, led by Tamar Rand, has planned a clothing drive for the YWCA, a service project with WNBA, and mentorship opportunities.

Source Hall of Fame Awards

A highlight of the meeting was the announcement of the 2025 SOURCE Hall of Fame Awards, set for August 26 at the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum. Pre-sale tickets for members will be available in mid-June, with a waiting list option. Companies interested in sponsoring were encouraged to reach out. The history and significance of the awards were discussed, including a tribute to Kay Smith, the founder of the awards.

A Delicious Meal and Networking

Of course, no SOURCE luncheon would be complete without wonderful food, catered by Catering and Events by Suzette. Members enjoyed a fantastic meal while engaging in meaningful conversations and discussing ways to enhance their participation in the organization.

Looking Forward to 2025

With a strong foundation and a clear vision for the future, SOURCE is set to make 2025 a year of meaningful connections, impactful programs, and unwavering support for women in the music industry. Whether through luncheons, networking events, or educational opportunities, SOURCE continues to be a leading force in empowering its members.
